In September 2016 I completed my MBA in under two years (while working and running businesses). This was a huge achievement for me as I left high school at a young age and entered the workforce without formal education. To gain acceptance into the programme I had to perform a number of apritude tests, go through several interviews as well as providing written letters of endorsement from past employers. Eventually I was accepted and maintained an “A” average and I will be graduating with distinction.
I crafted my paper choices for my degree very carefully. In addition to the core papers that form the foundation of the degree, I hand picked papers I felt would provide me with the most transferable skill sets instead of opting for a generalist specialisation. I focused on project management, consulting, international business and strategy.
In order to gain acceptance into the MBA programme I was was first required to complete a post graduate diploma with an average grade of B+ or higher. I averaged “A” throughout and gained qualifications focusing on marketing and consumer behaviour. I felt these were formal acknowledgements that added weight to my work experience in this field previously.
I was invited to represent the student body on the AUT board of studies. This was a monthly commitment where I was expected to vote and contribute on behalf of students on all matters relating to education.
I was a member of the board for over a year, until completion of my degree.
I have, over time, deliberately curated a diverse portfolio of work experience that includes sales, manufacturing, branding and design, marketing and advertising, IT and technology and consultancy. I wanted exposure to different ways of thinking and an understanding of the all the facets of business that contributed to business success. Where there are gaps in my experience I have sought higher education, for example in finance, economics and strategy. I am a big picture thinker and I am energised by the possibility the future holds.

In addition to displaying strong traditional leadership skills, Logan also developed the ability to step back and encourage leadership from others. Logan showed a rare, in my experience, ability to understand what really makes some teams perform at a much higher level. I am very happy to recommend Logan, if you are looking to enhance the leadership and team culture within your business.
His effectiveness and personal integrity are second-to-none; if he says he will do something, he will move heaven and earth to make it happen. I would unhesitatingly recommend Logan for anyone wanting to push their business to the next level. It will be a decision you'll never regret
I’ve known Logan for several years and he has always impressed me – from the first class I taught him in – with his ability to analyse a situation and get down to the core issues and problems. It is this ability that helped him to do an excellent job in the MBA class I taught him in (Operations Management) as he took the tools and approaches we had covered and applied them to his own businesses as part of the assignment. Later, in a discussion, he noted that these forms of operational analysis were an eye-opener and helped significantly reduce costs and improve customer service within his business. Within the class environment, Logan was an extremely personable leader of discussions and always contributed with some insightful questions or comments. Recently, I’ve also had the pleasure to work with him when he joined us as the student representative on the MBA/Professional Masters Board of Studies – Logan did a good job advocating and providing an overview of the students’ perspectives on some of the key issues under discussion.
Logan Wedgwood has been a student on the AUT MBA programme since October 2014 and during that time has made a significant contribution to the programme. Logan has been a great addition to the student body and makes valuable contributions in class. He is popular among other students is also well liked by AUT lecturers and faculty. Despite not having previously attended university he has maintained very high standards and has achieved some outstanding results. For these reasons he was selected to represent the student body on the AUT MBA and Professional Masters Board of Studies and has proven to be a reliable and thoughtful contributor to board discussions. Logan would be a valuable asset to any organisation and I believe that he shows great potential for future board and leadership roles.
Logan makes strong personal connections with each member of the team so they know they can turn to him if needed, and his straightforward approach to everything means you always know where you stand with him. His management style is very empowering - he prefers to ask questions and help you figure out what you need to do instead of telling you the solution, which I believe leads to better results in the end
I have worked with Logan for over 10 years in projects spanning across the Media, FMCG, and ICT industries. His effectiveness and personal integrity are second-to-none; if he says he will do something, he will move heaven and earth to make it happen.
He has the ability to communicate effectively at any level of an organisation, and to inspire and galvanise people towards his vision. He does not get stuck in a myopic view of an outcome, but will quickly adjust and adapt as business needs change.
