Masters in Business Administration

In September 2016 I completed my MBA in under two years (while working and running businesses). This was a huge achievement for me as I left high school at a young age and entered the workforce without formal education. To gain acceptance into the programme I had to perform a number of apritude tests, go through several interviews as well as providing written letters of endorsement from past employers. Eventually I was accepted and maintained an “A” average and I will be graduating with distinction.

I crafted my paper choices for my degree very carefully. In addition to the core papers that form the foundation of the degree, I hand picked papers I felt would provide me with the most transferable skill sets instead of opting for a generalist specialisation. I focused on project management, consulting, international business and strategy.

Post Graduate Diploma in business and marketing

In order to gain acceptance into the MBA programme I was was first required to complete a post graduate diploma with an average grade of B+ or higher. I averaged “A” throughout and gained qualifications focusing on marketing and consumer behaviour. I felt these were formal acknowledgements that added weight to my work experience in this field previously.

AUT Board of Studies

I was invited to represent the student body on the AUT board of studies. This was a monthly commitment where I was expected to vote and contribute on behalf of students on all matters relating to education.

I was a member of the board for over a year, until completion of my degree.

Professional info

I have, over time, deliberately curated a diverse portfolio of work experience that includes sales, manufacturing, branding and design, marketing and advertising, IT and technology and consultancy. I wanted exposure to different ways of thinking and an understanding of the all the facets of business that contributed to business success. Where there are gaps in my experience I have sought higher education, for example in finance, economics and strategy. I am a big picture thinker and I am energised by the possibility the future holds.
